Zelim Swift trialled by Artemis for new foiling Pilot Vessel design

We are excited to announce that Artemis Technologies has successfully tested our Zelim Swift rescue system as part of their development of a new all-electric foiling Pilot Vessel. This collaboration underscores our shared commitment to advancing safety and operational performance at sea.

Commitment to Maritime Safety

Pilots play a critical role in bringing vessels safely into harbour, often facing challenging conditions. Given the inherent risk that a Pilot may fall into the water during transfer at sea, the ability to recover them quickly and safely is paramount. The Zelim Swift system, with its novel treadmill design, was developed by experienced search and rescue professionals to ensure rapid and efficient recovery in such scenarios, even with minimal crew effort.

A rescue in progress using the Swift

Successful Sea Trial of the Zelim Swift Rescue System

Recently, we conducted a successful sea trial of the Zelim Swift rescue system in collaboration with Artemis Technologies. The trial took place just outside Belfast Harbour in Northern Ireland, where we demonstrated the system’s effectiveness using a Man Overboard manikin. The manikin was pulled onto the floating rescue conveyor belt and quickly moved onto the vessel, showcasing the system’s efficiency

Our Director of Search and Rescue, Pete Lloyd, who has over 32 years of experience as an RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot, was present at the trial. He remarked on the impressive performance of Artemis Technologies’ vessel, highlighting its speed, stability, and agility in conjunction with our Swift recovery system. Together, these technologies enabled the rapid rescue of the manikin with minimal effort.

Artemis Technologies’ Technical Director, Romain Ingouf, also emphasised the importance of our collaboration, noting how rigorous testing and user-led design are critical to their development process. He appreciated the opportunity to test the Swift system alongside traditional man overboard recovery systems, further validating their commitment to offering customers a range of effective and innovative rescue options.

A fast and efficient recovery using the Swift

The stability of Artemis Technologies’ electric foiling vessels, even in non-foiling conditions, was also demonstrated during the trial. The foils provide exceptional directional stability and reduce vessel roll, creating a safer and more stable platform for rescue operations.

We are proud to contribute to Artemis Technologies’ mission of delivering excellence in safety and performance. Following the trial, we are actively incorporating feedback into the design review of the Zelim Swift system, ensuring that our technology continues to meet the highest standards in maritime safety.
